Update

Hey everyone! I know it's been so long since I've updated this! So so sorry!! They keep me busy here.

Things are going very well! I am starting to really enjoy my job a lot. A lot's happened since I've last updated so I'll try and fill you in...

Let's see. I did housekeeping for a day and a half! That was actually very cool. I've never been a housekeeper before (oh what am I kidding, I've never even really cleaned before!) so it was neat just to see how another part of the operation worked and how much of an important job it was! I now have new found respect for the housekeepers because let me tell you, it's not easy.

Like I said, I did that for about a day and a half. Other than that I've just done front desk, which I really enjoy now that I'm getting the hang of it! I'm finally starting to get left by myself at the desk, so I must be doing something right, no?

Anyways, I came home for a very very short trip to Memphis (actually Jackson) for two of my best friends' wedding. It was an amazing wedding; so beautiful and so fun. Very short trip, but I got to see a lot of people, so it was good.

I also went to the beach for a day! I had a day off, and the east coast is about 2 hours away (if that) so I thought, "What the heck!" and drove to the beach in the morning and back home that afternoon. It was very interesting. I've never been to a beach other than the gulf. Very very different!

Nothing else is really going on.... except I AM GOING TO NEW YORK ON MONDAY!! I'm going to see a friend of mine in New York Monday! I am taking the train from here to the city which will be very cool, because I've never ridden on a train before. I'm so excited!

Miss everyone! Less than 30 days and I will be home!!

HEY EVERYONE!!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to update. Our internet has been out at the resort for just a little over a week now! We finally got it back up today, so that's why I haven't been able to update this.

So I'm not sure where exactly I left off last time. My job is going very well! Everyone at work is amazingly nice. It's almost like a little family up here. They're all so friendly, and do not treat me like an intern! I think every time anybody passes by the front desk they make it a point to say hello and ask how I'm doing. It's so nice!

I still don't have the right batteries for my camera, so I haven't taken many pictures other than the ones on my phone. I have a really nice condo. It's got a full kitchen, which is my favorite part:

It's also got a very nice TV so I've been watching lots of movies and such on it!

I haven't done much but work. That's the good thing about having an intern - you can work them to death! haha but it's really fun! Very good experience. I'm not only working the front desk, but I've also been put in charge of all of the activities that go on in the resort. So basically planning a lot of fun activities and events that the families can do at night time and enjoy their stay as much as possible!

Last week I had a day off so I went driving around, trying to get more familiar with the area and local places to tell guests about, etc. I didn't realize it, but driving around in the mountains is some of the best relaxation you can ever have! It was very nice outside (about 70 degrees) so I had the windows down and the music up, driving through the mountain.. very nice! While I was driving I saw my first covered bridge, which is very famous up in this part of the country!

That's about it! I am very tired - had a long 10 hour work day today. I miss everyone a lot! Hopefully I'll be updating more! Text or call me anytime! E-mail is also good too for those of you who don't do facebook or anything. It's ktpark@memphis.edu. Would love to hear from everyone!

Finally Here

Hey!!! Sorry, I know it's been a while since I've updated. I got into VT on Saturday evening. Thursday night I spent the night at Ohio State's SigEp chapter. That was a lot of fun - they had an event that night so I got to go to that! The next night I stayed at Cornell's chapter. That was very cool as well. I wound up getting sick on the way to Ohio State as well as Friday on the way to NY. I think it was just me being very nervous. I have finally settled in and I don't feel sick anymore.

I started today at the hotel! Everyone there is very nice and polite. It's very similar to a little family working with these people. I worked behind the front desk today. I think I will be doing this for about 6 weeks and then doing activities for the remainder of the internship.

I will add photos as soon as possible! I Haven't been able to find the right batteries for my camera so I haven't been able to take pictures of anything. My condo is amazing! It is very nice, and the kitchen is my favorite part. I've never really had a full kitchen all to myself so needless to say, I went to WalMart and bought tons of groceries so I can start cooking... or at least learn to start cooking.

Having somewhat of a rough start here emotionally just because of homesickness and other things, so feel free to call me anytime! If I don't answer it just means I'm at work and I will call you back on my next break or when I get off. Hearing from everyone will help me get through these 12 weeks being 1300 miles away from everyone I love.

Bags Are Packed...

...And I'm ready to go! Well, it's 11:00 PM on Wednesday night. Plan on hitting the road by 7 tomorrow morning! First stop is to Columbus, OH where I'm staying at the SigEp house there. I'm pretty excited, yet still nervous. I'm actually in one of those stages where I'm experiencing a lot of emotion right now: anxious, nervous, excited, scared, sad, happy... Just a lot on my mind!

The next three days will be very long ones I can feel. I thought a 6 hour drive to the beach was tough and I had three great friends riding with me! This is a 22 hour car ride BY MYSELF. Granted, I am doing it in a few days span and not all in one, yet still very stressful.

I plan on using this site as a source for all of my friends back home to see how I'm doing. I'll upload pictures as soon as I get to the resort, and of course I will let everyone know how I'm doing.

If anyone is bored Thursday, Friday or Saturday... CALL ME! I will have 1300 miles to sit and keep you company.
